What You'll Do
As a Software Engineer at SuperAwesome you will develop one of our existing products as part of a highly skilled and mission driven team committed to keeping a very high quality bar, evolving the system while keeping it simple, and focusing on having the highest impact on the end product.
Work closely with the Tech Lead and the other engineers in your team to define the appropriate technical approach, success metrics, and delivery timelines.
Have your say in the product roadmap and help the team and the Product Manager to make the most informed decisions to break down complex tech deliverables into simple and understandable user stories.
Quality is key for us - you will ensure all product components are built to an appropriate level of quality for the stage (alpha/beta/production). Deliver products using the appropriate level of testing and monitoring, fail fast, and learn and iterate frequently.
Champion continuous improvement and always aim to improve the product your team owns and measure your impact with the appropriate tech, product, or delivery metrics.
In this role, you will
- Join a team committed to high-speed iterations, high code quality, and continuous improvement via agile processes
- While most of the work is on the back-end of our systems, you’ll work across the full application stack depending on where you can drive the highest impact
- Work with your team to design and implement features and services for the product your team owns, and keep the design choices well documented and explained
- Drive quality and reliability from the get go, lowering the complexity of the system
- Master the domains you’ll be working on, and will break complex goals down to simple and easy-to-maintain deliverables
- Ensure long-term quality, scalability and maintainability of our systems
- Champion the devops culture, treat operations with a mission critical mindset, and support the live system in production, including participation in our out-of-hours on-call rota
Our stack is entirely cloud native, and it includes technologies such as AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Kafka, Node.js and Typescript.
What we're looking for
- 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering
- Proficiency in TypeScript throughout the development process
- Familiarity with either Node.js, Next.js, Angular or React for frontend development
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database management systems
- Demonstrated track record of success in developing and delivering software solutions
- Proficiency in full-stack software development and related technologies
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices
- Familiarity with DevOps methodologies, testing, and tooling
- Proficiency in microservices and event-driven architectures
- Experience improving quality, security, scalability, and observability of products
