Job Title: Software Product Manager
Location: Manchester
The Opportunity:
Our Group Product team is responsible for designing, creating and managing a broad range of propositions, both service and software based, that help solve our customers challenges across the Cyber, Data & Digital landscape.
We are looking for an experienced Product Manager or Product Owner to join our Group Product & Development team, where your core focus will be to work with in a large team of like-minded Product and Software people, while leading the design, build and enhancements of an exciting and innovative new-to-market platform.
The Challenge:
Your role as a Product Manager will be to work extensively with various departments across NCC Group globally to:
  • Consistently deliver high-quality, easily understood Product Requirements, which consider customer needs, application context and engineering principles.
  • Motivate and lead a dedicated team of engineers, designers, architects and QA Testers
  • Be the voice of the customer - Gathering, reviewing and prioritising feedback to drive continual service and process improvement.
Specifically, you will:
  • Confidently and clearly communicate with internal and external stakeholders/teams at various levels, articulating product & team progress, focus and direction of travel.
  • Install rigorous and persistent prioritisation and re-prioritisation methods across your product backlog and roadmap, predicting and responding to scenarios that arise during product development
  • Accurately assess the realistic business and customer value behind new and existing ideas that come up during the product development
Be accountable for the effective creation of key Product deliverables such as:
  • Product requirements & acceptance criteria
  • Backlog/Release management and refinement
  • Roadmap creation & maintenance
  • Technical prototypes and proof of concepts
  • Technical documentation
  • Product presentations, training & education
  • Competitor & Market analysis
The role will not include any line management responsibilities.
Key Skills & Requirements:
  • Been there, done that: We require prior experience in either Product Manager/Owner roles, it doesn’t need to be decades, but it is essential that you bring to the table evidence of writing requirements/acceptance criteria, prioritising complex backlogs, and working with broad internal and external stakeholders. You should also be experienced working in/leading product development teams.
  • Assess & Decide: We don’t need you to be an engineering expert, or to have worked in this specific industry (Cyber) before, but we do need you to possess the ability to quickly assess the technical feasibility, relative cost and risks around solution options, and make good, informed decisions you can stand behind and evidence with data.
  • Process Pro & Eye for Detail: You should hold excellent process analysis and mapping skills, and want nothing more than to uncover all the detail involved with a requirement in order to distil into the pertinent information your team requires.
  • All about Agile: Demonstratable knowledge of Agile development processes, ceremonies and practices is essential – but we also require you to be adaptable to change, particularly where there are varying levels of process adoption, we want you to embrace difference and fundamentally deliver.
  • Confident Communicator: Holding a strong ability to clearly communicate with and manage broad stakeholders across multiple departments and geographies is critical to the success of the role.
Desirable:
  • Formal Agile/Scrum Product Owner or Manager certification
  • Experience using the Atlassian stack, specifically JIRA and Confluence
  • An awareness of developing or working with Cloud or SaaS platforms.
  • A background in, or demonstrated awareness of, Cyber Security products
