Hours per week: 37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3 months

The recruitment of a Solicitor or CILEX practitioner is required on a locum basis in the Children and Community Services Team, this is a full-time position but part time working would be considered. The role supports the Special Educational Needs and Disability Team primarily and includes providing support to Education and Childcare when required.
The Solicitor or CILEX practitioner is required to assist and advise upon process, advice upon legal issues, coordinate papers and evidence for Tribunals and attend and represent the clients as advocates at tribunals where necessary.

Qualifications:
Qualified Solicitor or Cilex.
Skills & Experience
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Substantial proven experience in the law relating to SEND & Disability and Education Matters.
Good written and communication skills
Good negotiating skills.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Knowledge of local government practice and procedures
Good general experience in local authority legal office or in dealing with local authority legal work.
Knowledge and experience of tribunals.
Knowledge of judicial reviews.
Knowledge of public law childcare.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
