Digital Services are responsible for the digital information, systems and technologies used by staff and students across The Open University. Covering all aspects of digital technology at the OU, from sourcing and maintaining systems, through to providing frontline IT support for staff and students. The role We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Solutions Architect to join our Learning Products teams within IT. You will work with the business, other Architects within IT, analysts, and the Product Teams to develop great solutions that enable our staff to deliver fantastic services to our students, owning the solution from inception through to ongoing delivery. You will design solutions based on Moodle and AWS cloud, as well as bespoke solutions, ensuring that they are aligned to our strategic direction and adhering to our architectural principles and processes. As part of the wider architecture community, you will work to shape our architecture, developing patterns and standards, and supporting your colleagues to achieve their goals and covering where necessary. Although this role is aligned to our Milton Keynes office, we are flexible on location across the UK, with the understanding of occasional ad-hoc attendance onsite. Skills and experience This role will suit you if you: Possess demonstrable understanding of various IT architectural frameworks such as TOGAF. Have the proven ability to design and document solutions based on business requirements. Possess excellent communication skills, able to liaise and negotiate successfully with stakeholders, team members and suppliers. Have obtained a degree level qualification with a significant computing element or possess relevant industry experience.
