Your new role
You will be working with Key Stage 3 students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and possibly secondary needs relating to communication and interaction, cognition and learning and sensory/physical needs. Some of the students will have Education, Health Care Plans (EHCPs). You will be expected to support the teacher and work with other Teaching Assistants in class to manage behaviour, and ensure all students are on target. Due to the nature of the setting, you need to have strong behaviour management skills and a resilient nature. This is a full-time job, working Mondays to Fridays. There is the possibility of this job becoming permanent.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience working in a Special Needs (SEN) / Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) / Residential or Care setting
- Experience working with children/young people
- Team Teach qualification is desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service, or the willingness to apply for a new one
