Job description

A Vacancy at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.
This is a 12 monthfixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
We are looking for an enthusiastic,HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist,with relevant post-registration experience to join the multidisciplinary team inHaematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistryat The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Biomedical Scientist, to assist with the provision of a diagnostic service and support the delivery of a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week service as part of a 37.5 hour working week - including evenings, nights, weekends and bank/public holidays.
The successful candidate will be expected to train in relevant disciplines and to rotate through all sections of the department. You may be required to work on any of our other sites, as the need arises.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital (SaTH) Pathology Services are accredited to UKAS standards. The Biochemistry section is equipped with Roche Cobas 6000 analysers and Roche pre-analytics and middleware. The Haematology section is equipped with a Sysmex XN and CS2500 analysers. Automated Biorad Equipment is in use in the Blood Transfusion Department. The department is an approved IBMS/HCPC training laboratory and continuous professional development is actively encouraged.
The Trust
Our two Hospitals, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford are just a 30 minute drive apart. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care.
The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital at Oswestry is a specialist orthopaedic centre and the blood science service is provided by SATH.
The Area
We are ideally located between the north and the south, making travelling around the UK extremely easy. As well as being only a short distance from major cities and busy transport links including Birmingham airport, our county also borders with beautiful North Wales which is abundant in outdoor activities, brilliant beaches and thrilling scenery.
Telford & Wrekin is a small urban borough. The majority of the borough’s 160,000 people live in Telford, which comprises several older towns such as Wellington, Ironbridge and Oakengates alongside newer residential areas. Telford is a major business centre and boasts 140 overseas companies.
Shrewsbury is a beautiful medieval town, rich in heritage and interesting sights. There are an abundance of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and places of interest making it a lovely place to live.
