Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, registered with the HCPC, to join Hounslow CAMHS Neuro-Developmental Team (NDT). This vacancy would equally suit a newly qualified Psychologist or a Band 7 Psychologist with CAMHS experience looking to develop an expertise in ND work and to be involved in our new Crisis Outreach Resource for Autism team (CORA). We are seeking to employ a candidate with a real interest and commitment to working with young people with neuro-diversity.
There are two main aspects to this role: assessment and therapeutic intervention. You will be responsible for undertaking high quality evidence based assessments to young people referred in to the service and offering therapeutic interventions (e.g. CBT) to those young people with co-morbid mental health disorders.
Within this role you will largely be responsible for offering evidence based interventions to those young people with neuro-diversity and co-morbid mental health problems. Such interventions include CBT however where formulation indicates other interventions would be supported. We would support training in further specialist therapies such as EMDR, NVR or MBT. You will also be responsible for undertaking Neuro-Developmental assessments, producing high quality written clinical assessment reports, and offering discrete assessments (e.g. WISC, 3di, ADOS) to young people open to our service. Training may be able in specialist assessment if required. All assessment work is discussed within MDT meetings and specialist Panel meetings to ensure that staff are supported in undertaking complex assessment. Staff report feeling supported in their assessment work within our service.
Other aspects to the role include offering, when appropriate, clinical supervision to other members of the psychology team, attendance at appropriate team meetings, and undertaking duty work. You will also contribute to the services ongoing Quality Improvement work.
There would be opportunities for the successful candidate to be involved in our new Crisis Outreach Resource for Autism team (CORA). CORA is a CAMHS outreach community service crisis for young people with autism that are in a mental health crisis or stepping down from crisis/impatient environments.
