Job description

We are looking to appoint a qualified careers, information advice and guidance professional to our team of Specialist Learning and Employment Advisers.

You will be working with the Integrated SEND Service, the Virtual School and local education providers. The role involves providing targeted information, advice and guidance to support the progression of young people 13-25 with specific additional needs.

The ability to manage, plan, deliver and assess complex work and to demonstrate a clear understanding of relevant legislation and challenges in working with a caseload of vulnerable young people with a range of needs is essential.

We are looking for someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills and experience in working with young people with SEND or who are care experienced. You will be ambitious for young people and play an important role in ensuring that they secure destinations post 16.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
