Job description

We have an exciting opportunity here at Cygnet Brunel, where you will be supported to afford our patients the opportunity to assess, support and offer brief evidence based interventions based on specific needs of each individual.

You will become an integral part of the MDT providing an evidence based therapeutic programme through a range of activities both within the hospital and in the community. We use a variety of different media to support all patients in their mental health.

Your Role

Service Line: Neuropsychiatry

Summary of the site: Cygnet Brunel in Bristol offers an extensive Neuropsychiatric treatment, care and rehabilitation pathway which is unique in its ability to provide a dedicated pathway to meet the complex needs of service users within our care.

Neuropsychiatric MDT consists of Psychiatry, Speciality Doctor’s, Psychology, Speech and language therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietician.

  • Case load, 16 patients, 32 bedded service.

Occupational Therapy Team consists of Head Occupational Therapist, Band 6Occupational Therapist, 2 Occupational Therapy Assistants

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead Occupational Therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our Occupational Therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead Occupational Therapists.

  • You are... 

    • Qualified in Occupational Therapy – degree, diploma or equivalent 
    • HPCP registered and a member of a professional body 
    • An excellent communicator with first-rate interpersonal skills & a positive approach
    • Experienced in OT processes/interventions & can take a hands-on approach
    • Preferably experienced in the field of mental health
    • Empathetic, sensitive & able to remain calm in challenging situations
    • Highly organised & clear, professional & concise report writer
