Job description

The role Do you have excellent attention to detail coupled with practical experience of maintaining laboratory or industrial systems? The Faulty of Science & Engineering has a number of core facilities and infrastructures, including hydraulic and compressed air systems, that are essential for conducting research experiments and teaching activities, and we’re looking for a technician to help. You will arrange and coordinate routine servicing and maintenance activities; advise on stock operations for the equipment you support; deliver training; and write guidance documents to inform local rules and legislative compliance. What will you be doing? You will: Ensure equipment and facilities are and remain compliant with applicable Health & Safety legislation and local rules. Ensure equipment and facilities remain fit for purpose through applicable calibration, servicing, maintenance, and upgrade activities. Plan and organise service and repairs. Providing operational safety guidance and train others in carrying out relatively complex and / or safety critical techniques. The core facilities currently covered by this role are: Central Hydraulic System Material Test Laboratory Compressed Air System Oven and Furnace Suites Cranes and Lifting Equipment Mechanical Handling Equipment Asset Management System (Planon) You should apply if You have experience working in a safety-related role and can demonstrate a working history of maintaining safe working environments, ideally in a laboratory or light industrial environment. You have experience creating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases. You can competently write risk assessments and operating procedures.
