The opportunity
University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for a new Specialist TechnicianHair and Make-up to join our Hair and Makeup department at London College of Fashion.
You will expand the delivery of non-Eurocentric teaching in the Hair and make-up department within the School of Media and Communication. You will utilise your skills and expertise in hair (with a particular emphasis on textured hair) and make-up, by leading exciting and informative technical workshops, providing guidance, advice and support to students working in Hair and make-up practices.
You will assume responsibility for the daily running of specific areas and facilities within the College, including specialist facilities such as the Hair and make-up classrooms, liaising closely with the Technical Coordinator/Manager to ensure the safe use of equipment and facilities.
You will also contribute to the planning and development of the programme area, as well as the identification of learning outcomes, including curriculum development, research, and commercial activities.
About you
You will need a degree/equivalent qualification relevant to the role, or previous relevant experience. You will demonstrate an extensive knowledge of Hair and make-up techniques, along with experience of delivering technical workshops and providing 1-2-1 support for Hair and make-up.
You will also exhibit excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills, along with strong professional practice that seeks to support excellent teaching, pedagogy, and inclusivity.
