Job description

This is predominantly a Community post: Working together with the Designated and Named professionals for Children looked after (CLA), the post is a key role in ensuring the health needs of Children Looked after (CLA) are met. The post holder will be the Medical Adviser for Fostering and will give medical advice on the medical assessments of all adult applicants to become carers and attend Permanency Panels, along with other Children looked after (CLA) duties in line with the Looked after children: Roles and competence of health care Staff (Intercollegiate Document 2020). Take part in appropriate multidisciplinary meetings in areas appropriate to their field. To attend the weekly Child Development Centre(CDC) referral team meetings in order to gain a full understanding of the assessment process. Ability to conduct developmental assessments of children with special needs including children referred for various neurodevelopmental problems. To work closely with the Multiagency Team at the Child Development Centre To attend the CDC Neurodisability Clinics The post holder will therefore be required to be able to interpret and communicate on a broad range of health information in a social and education context, therefore working closely and provide advice to the Local Authority, LAC, Adoption and Fostering Teams and panels, CAMHS ( Young Minds Matter), and families, supporting all activities necessary to ensure that the organisation meets its responsibilities to Children Looked after The post would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Paediatric duties in this busy district general hospital. The ability to match a personal special interest with service requirements will be essential. As will the commitment to a high quality service in terms of clinical care, communication and team dynamics. Research-opportunities may be provided for research under the guidance of Consultants. The post holder will be encouraged to undertake skill-based courses as appropriate. Any other special interests which the candidate(s) would like to develop should be communicated during the application/selection process.
