Specification Technologist

Reporting to the Quality Systems Manager, the Specification Technologist will complete and maintain Gold Standard finished product specifications for all active products and those in development in line with the required critical paths. You will also provide all associated paperwork for new and EPD product launches. This position is permanent, Monday to Friday and offers hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities:

• To compile Gold Standard customer specifications to meet customer expectations for right first time submissions.
• To manage up-scaled production recipes from those in development and maintain recipes.
• To manage process documentation to meet legal and customer requirements.
• To produce accurate and high quality documentation within given time constraints to meet the needs of the business.
• To maintain a professional manner when interfacing with colleagues, customers and third parties either in person or on the telephone in order to reflect the Company’s quality image.
• To plan and organise in the most effective fashion particularly through diary management in order to optimise the time available.
• To build up specialist knowledge of the department/company systems and equipment in order to promote the smooth running of the department.
• To maintain an effective and accessible reference resource to ensure necessary and accurate information is available at all times.
• To be responsible for ad hoc projects, as and when required, in line with departmental or Company objectives.
• Provide support for the Technical Department when necessary.
• Check and approve artwork against specification details.
• Support monthly customer reports completion with provision of data to the Tech admin team.
• Ensure Technical/NPD handovers are completed in a timely manner and check that the NPD Chefs have the correct information available.
• Keep up to date with customer brand standards of technical and legal requirements
• Complete all aspects of finished product specifications to specific customer requirements, within agreed timescales, and ensuring brand standard compliance
• Works with the process team to compile and issue factory paperwork to enable the site to deliver the finished product specification, giving clear guidance to the operational team.
• Understand and manage critical path actions where relevant.
• Liaise effectively with relevant departments to obtain timely and correct information for finished product specifications.
• Manage and maintain all customer files with relevant documentation.
• Completion of support technical customer documentation as required.

Essential Experience / Qualifications and Attributes Required:

• Ideally experience of working with retailer specification systems
• Food Technology, Process Technology and/or Food Engineering qualifications and experience.
• Systematic approach and time management skills.
• Presentation and influencing skills.
• Computer literate.
• Understanding of business finance
