Job description

The opportunity

The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is one of Europe’s leading government-funded collaborative programmes helping businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity using expertise, skills, and resources from a UK knowledge base. For graduates, KTPs provide a programme designed to develop the skills and knowledge of future business leaders whilst embedding new knowledge, systems, and processes in the host company. High-calibre graduates are employed to work on specific projects of strategic importance to companies, whilst being supported by a dedicated University or College.

To find out more about Knowledge Transfer Partnerships please see: https://www.ktp-uk.org/.

You will be responsible for supporting feature development, product validation, and case-study development of Panthion (a novel wearable smart garment to measure lower-limb kinematics during sports activities). You will contribute to maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to transfer critical knowledge and expertise. You will be based at KYMIRA’s head office (Reading Enterprise Centre, University of Reading, Reading) and Cardiff Metropolitan University (Cyncoed Campus, Cardiff), with scope for hybrid working.

What we are looking for

This Knowledge Transfer Partnership is a multifaceted strategic project that requires knowledge transfer between Cardiff Metropolitan University and KYMIRA. The aim is to embed specialised biomechanical knowledge and skills, to validate and develop Panthion, demonstrate its value, and access new markets. You will play a strategic and essential role to facilitate Panthion product validation and application informed by Sport Biomechanics expertise at Cardiff Met, which is critical for thoroughly understanding Panthion's novel contribution to the field.

Your work will be focused on embedding key sports biomechanics research and expertise directly into Panthion's product development pathway, strategy, and commercial approach. This will include specialist responsibilities such as collecting biomechanical data to validate Panthion, assessing existing scientific research for meaningful product applications, monitoring biomechanical information measured from Pantion in the field, and delivering various training and skill development sessions to a broad range of academic and industrial partners. As part of these duties, the Associate is expected to manage the workplan and budget associated with the KTP project.

For more information on this KTP project, please contact the business supervisor (Soma Chakraborty; s.chakraborty@kymira.comacademic) or academic supervisor (Dr Jasper Verheul; jpverheul@cardiffmet.ac.uk).
