SQM Testing and Monitoring Support Manager– Permanent
 

The opportunity
This is an exciting and varied role within the testing function of the System of Quality Management (SQM) Team which sits within the Firm’s Risk Management function.  Ideal for individuals looking to further progress their career or step into a Big 4 firm.  You will be working across the various service lines and SQM components/processes you will learn a remarkable amount about the firm allowing successful candidates to access long term career progression.

 

Your key responsibilities
This role has a primary focus on the Testing and Monitoring  which is a critical part of the ISQM1 work. The process includes design and operational effectiveness controls testing procedures over EY UK Member Firm and EY UKI Region. The successful candidate will play a key role in reviewing, analysing and documenting design adequacy assessment over control and non-control responses as well as in reviewing, analysing and documenting the operational effectiveness testing procedures over them.

 

Experience and attributes
As an Assistant Director you will be working on critical elements at the core of EY’s ISQM1 work and will gain exposure to stakeholders across all areas of the business, including senior firm leadership.   You will be supported by leaders who have a strong belief in professional skills development and from day one, you will build broader experiences in a fast paced and dynamic organization.

 

We are looking for an individual, experienced in both design and operational effectiveness controls testing procedures, who demonstrates a desire to learn and someone who can add value. 
 

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • Ability to perform and review controls testing to output deadlines
  • Experience of design and operational effectiveness controls testing procedures and undertaking underlying procedures.
  • Ability to assess information provided from various sources to assess mitigation of quality risk(s) and appropriateness/sufficiency of the information for the purpose of design and operational effectiveness controls testing procedures.
  • Ability to link and understand interrelationships between quality objectives, risks and control responses across different SQM components and articulate interdependencies and the impact of these on testing procedures and related conclusions (if any).
  • Ability to manage, coordinate and participate in regular interactions with stakeholders from all areas of EY and to deliver conclusions both verbally and through various reporting.
  • High attention to detail, with a proven ability to complete tasks in a thorough, accurate and consistent manner.
  • Ability to prioritise and coordinate multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent and proven organization, communication, and influencing skills to contribute to the delivery mindset of the team.  Your ideas will be listened to and taken on board no matter what level you are.
  • Ability to lead and guide junior team members. 
  • Possess data processing skills, be experienced in working with IT tools which support controls programmes, and management of internal databases.
  • Experience extracting, analysing, and providing data and reporting to key stakeholders.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Ability to resolve design issues and assist in any corrective activity to fully document control descriptions, criteria and attributes and ensure testing attributes cover these
  • Ability to critically review a control and assess the level of mitigation it provides to a given risk,  contribute to enhancements and efficiency of the System of Quality Management through rationalisation or challenge of risk/control mappings
  • Prior experience and understanding of ISQM 1requirements or working in an ISQM1 role is desirable but not essential as training will be given. 
  • Excellent communication skills and strong ability to present results/output using core Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Flexible working & Location 
Potential Office locations include London, Leeds, Birmingham, or Bristol.

EY has adopted hybrid working practices with staff working in the appropriate place for their day, but travel to your home office is expected 2 days per week. Some travel to other EY offices may be required.
