The Pre Assessment team aims to screen, assess and optimise patients prior to elective surgery in line with NHSE requirements.
This will include fast track , and elective routine patients.
This is achieved via the patient completing a health questionnaire with a HCSW, this is then triaged by a qualified nurse into the appropriate nurse face to face , anaesthetic or telephone assessments.
The role involves communication with surgeons, anaesthetists and other members of the MDT.
The service is nurse led and involves the review of blood results, requesting and actioning investigations and the escalation of abnormal results to surgeons and anaesthetists sometimes within a very tight time frame.
Opportunity to undertake Pre -Operative Assessment related Training courses.
Triage of patients following telephone health questionnaire.
F2F and telephone assessments .
Reviewing and actioning blood results and investigations.
Communicating with members of the MDT teams
Communicating with patients and family members.
