About you
As a Stores Supervisor, you will bring to the role:
- Demonstrable competency in ordering and managing stock items in a workshop or related environment.
- Demonstrable competency in receiving fuel deliveries and in managing and controlling fuel stocks.
- An ability to demonstrate accuracy in parts identification.
- An ability to analyse data and produce effective reports and presentations demonstrating good ICT skills (e.g. email; word processing; spreadsheets; database).
- An ability to prioritise and organise work schedules for self and others with a high level of interruption
About the role
Our Transport and Engineering section are seeking to appoint an experienced Stores Supervisor, to be part of a team based at The Arium but may also be asked to work anywhere within the city boundary.
The successful candidate will be a highly flexible, well-motivated self-starter who possesses excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest level of service. You must have a proven ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise your work and keep accurate records.
You will be required to supervise the operation of the Workshop and Engineering stores including taking responsibility for the security of stock held and issued and for the timely replenishment of parts and equipment to support the operation of an effective workshop.
The post holder will be able to manage the acquisition, issue, and receipt of Agricultural, Horticultural, Arboriculture and specialist plant, machinery and vehicle parts, tools and equipment as required by workshop operational personnel, while ensuring compliance with procurement procedures.
Manage all clerical and electronic databases and stocktaking systems to ensure the timely repair and maintenance of the Green Spaces fleet.
Procure and control all oils, fuels and gasses used by the service, including petrol, in accordance with Leeds City Council’s petroleum licence.
To arrange disposal of all hazardous waste generated by the workshop in line with the City Council’s policies.

Job Description
Job Purpose: To supervise the operation of the Workshop and Engineering stores including taking responsibility for the security of stock held and issued and for the timely replenishment of parts and equipment to support the operation of an effective workshop. In addition to undertake CoSHH assessments for all products requiring ensuring that these are available as required by workshop and other staff.
Responsibilities:
To manage the acquisition of Agricultural, Horticultural, Arboriculture and specialist plant, machinery and vehicle parts as required by workshop operational personnel ensuring compliance with procurement procedures.
To raise orders for all stock items required with subsequent checking of deliveries and onward invoice authorisation for payment processes.
To procure and control all oils, fuels and gasses used by the service, including petrol, in accordance with Leeds City Council’s petroleum licence.
To receive and issue these stock items as required to support timely repair and servicing activities ensuring sufficient stock is always available.
To oversee the issue and receipt of specialist tools and equipment as required by Workshop Technicians and Fitters. In addition to ensure that calibration of these items is undertaken as required.
To undertake as required vibration testing using specialist equipment a of sample of machinery in support of the HAVS management approach of the service. This will be particularly important where new items of equipment are procured and where concern is raised by operators.
To manage all clerical and electronic databases and stocktaking systems as required to order, receive, and issue all stock items providing reports on purchase, usage and stock held as required.
To arrange disposal of all hazardous waste generated by the workshop in line with the City Council’s policies.
Flexible and adaptable to change to assist other services as required commensurate to grade
Participate in appraisal, training and development activities as necessary to ensure up to date knowledge and skills
Improve own practice through observation, evaluation, discussion with colleagues and development programmes.
To work collaboratively with colleagues, knowing when to seek help and advice.
Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the service by attending relevant meetings, training days/events as requested.

Ability to access remote sites efficiently with a minimum B1 driving licence.

Issues affecting the maintenance of grounds maintenance machinery including health and safety of operatives.

Experience Required
Experience in the procurement, control and issuing of oils, fuels, and gasses.
Implementation of stockholding performance and management systems.
Experienced in managing information and report writing.
Liaising with external and internal clients.
