Job description

- Street Lighting Electrician

- Trainee Street Lighting Electrician


This is an open-ended full time position working 37 hours per week.


A vacancy has arisen for a qualified Electrician within the Authorities Street Lighting, Maintenance department. The primary duty of this role is to maintain all electrical apparatus on public highways throughout the county.


The Successful Applicant will be at a minimum qualified to NVQ level 3 Electrician, or Equivalent, be familiar with Current Electrical Wiring Regulations BS7671:2018 current amendment; Should have experience of working from height using a Mobile Elevated Working Platform, MEWP. The successful applicant, although part of a team, will be required to work independently so is required to be self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised.


A clean driving license is essential. Desirable to be experienced in driving heavy machinery possessing a Class C1 license with DCPC; Experience with Traffic Management is also advantageous.


Should no suitable recruitment be made, a trainee role will be considered;


Candidates shall be working towards an electrical qualification through City & Guilds NVQ, or EAL Equivalent.

A clean driving licence is essential; full training will be provided for this post and experience given to obtain qualifications.

Suitable applicant should demonstrate ability to working at heights.
