The role

Our client is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their team in Hemel Hempstead office. You will be involved in several diverse projects of varying scales across multiple sectors such as commercial, research and development, energy, and residential.

You will be supported from day one and be part of numerous exciting projects that facilitate continuous technical learning and robust career development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate in the creation of structural designs involving steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
• Work closely with team members and report to the project director.
• Actively contribute to enhancing and promoting the company reputation through professional actions.
• Cultivate proficiency to participate in meetings and engage with architects, clients, subcontractors, and other professionals, consistently representing the business in a professional and courteous manner.
• Develop skills to effectively liaise with clients, project teams, and local authorities.
• Assume responsibility, under supervision, for the technical aspects of projects.
• Acquire expertise to evaluate the sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
• Foster skills to ensure project compliance with statutory requirements, with a particular emphasis on health and safety.

The Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess self-motivation, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Preferred qualifications for candidates include:

• Experience in designing with various commonly used building materials.
• Knowledge of soil mechanics and expertise in foundation design.
• Capability to effectively represent the Company professionally.
• A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• Proficient in preparing structural designs using traditional materials.
• Strong verbal communication skills, including clear, confident, and convincing telephone conversations.
• Effective written communication skills, demonstrated through clear and concise e-mails, letters, and reports.
• Collaborative work approach and ability to function as a valuable team member.
