Job description

Your new company

The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1583, is one of the four ancient universities in Scotland, and an illustrious institutional landmark on the Scottish landscape. In the modern day, the university is future focussed, striving to achieve its vision and strategy for 2030, focussing on 4 key areas; People, Research, Teaching & Learning and Social & Civic Responsibility.

Within the university, the Scholarships and Student Funding team provide a single point of contact for prospective and enrolled students in finding the financial help and information they require to pursue their education.

Your new role

The focus of the role is to have oversight of the service, and its provision ensuring the university is meeting the needs of students, funding frameworks and audit standards.

You will also support continuous enhancement in relation to systems, policy and practice. The team has experienced a period of change as a result of Covid, changing priorities, and university investment. Therefore, an experienced leader is required to support setting new priorities, boundaries and expectations for the service to enhance the provision provided for students.

What you'll need to succeed

In this role, it is essential to have proven hands-on experience in a similar role, with an understanding of discretionary funding within further or higher education, and experience of implementing change in this setting.

In addition, excellent leadership skills are required with a proven ability to manage relationships, establishing and maintaining trust and support whilst leading a service with multiple strands and priorities.

Alongside your leadership qualities, you will have proven line management experience with the ability to motivate, train and support staff to deliver a high-quality service.

What you'll get in return

The university offers highly competitive salaries, a fantastic working culture and environment, as well as very competitive benefits and holiday allowances.

The role does offer hybrid working, with the clear need for on-site time to support on-campus students and the team.
