Job description

Student Support Champion – Link to Apply

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Student Support Champion to join our already fantastic team of dedicated, efficient and hardworking colleagues, who contribute to a wonderful culture of work and play a key role day-to-day management and leadership of student progress, behaviour and attendance.

The ideal candidate will be an ambitious professional with experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, including external agencies responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of all students and/or has experience of working in the behaviour management within a school setting.

If you are determined to make a difference to the life chances of young people by raising standards, expectations and achievement we would like to hear from you.

Why you should work with us?

Your dedication & commitment is not only recognised, but highly rewarded;

  • Opportunities for rapid progression across a growing Academy Trust;
  • Complimentary tea and coffee;
  • Access to our Employee Assistant Programme;
  • Fun & interesting weekly staff incentives (weekly prizes, surprises and rewards following the previous week);
  • Free parking;
  • Complimentary breakfast and lunch (Family Breakfast and Family Lunch is shared with students, who serve one another);
  • Consideration will be given to Flexible working/Part-time hours where possible;
  • The opportunity to work with a kind, collaborative and fun team of colleagues.

Q3 Academy Langley opened its doors in September 2016, becoming the first brand-new secondary education provider in Sandwell in a decade. We are looking to add to our fantastic team of dedicated, hard-working colleagues, who contribute to a wonderful culture of work. Now in 2024 we are one of the leading schools both locally, regionally and nationally. Every week we welcome colleagues from the length-and-breadth of the country to see how we are changing the narrative for education here in Sandwell and being a wider system leader.

Our curriculum model is focused primarily on the EBacc subjects, forming our Core. Additionally, we have a project-based, cross-curricular provision (Horizon, Innov8 and Cloud 9) that develops student learning both academically and holistically. Because of this innovative model, there is a minimal strain in terms of lesson planning, leaving time to hone learning and the art of teaching.

In May 2019, we received glowing feedback from our first Ofsted inspection. As well as highlighting our outstanding behaviour, pastoral and leadership systems, the lead inspector expressed that Q3 Academy Langley was ‘not a normal school.’ Our outward-facing approach has led us to be at the forefront of educational innovation – our focus on being ‘warm but strict’, and putting knowledge at the heart of our curriculum has led Schools Week to dub us ‘the Michaela of the Midlands’.

Additionally, our attendance and persistent absence figures have been amongst the very best in the entire country – this is particularly impressive when considering the socio-economic context of the Academy (IDACI ‘Deprived’) and the broad cultural mix of our cohort. The work of We are in Beta highlighted that for the last two years we are in the top 100 schools in the country for disadvantage progress outcomes.

At Q3 Academy Langley, we have the absolute highest expectations of behaviour and politeness from our students, and have several procedures that support and reinforce these ideals. We expect the successful candidate to comply with such procedures, understanding that when an Academy rows together, students can learn in a safe and consistent environment. In July 2018, we were delighted to have been one of the first schools nationally to have been awarded the prestigious Schools of Character award, reflecting our commitment to developing young people beyond the classroom. This is only one of a raft of external accreditation that we have received demonstrating an inclusive learning environment for staff and students alike.
