St Giles has 60 years’ experience in providing high quality English courses to students from more than 50 different countries.
We are centrally located in Brighton next to the Royal Pavilion, Victoria Gardens & a few minutes from the beach.
We are one of the largest schools in Brighton and run a variety of courses.
We are very focused on teacher development, we run CELTA courses and we have a new teacher buddy system, a mentoring programme and paid teacher development sessions.
Details of Position
The role could include a range of teaching including general English, Cambridge & IELTS classes, business, over 30s, university studies and 1-1 courses in the Platinum Centre.
The successful applicant should be familiar with a range of levels from beginner to advanced.
Our students are 14+ with most being in their 20s. Class sizes are a maximum of 12.
Lessons are from 9am to 1pm in the mornings and 2pm to 3.40pm in the afternoons.
We are looking for teachers for 3rd June and 1st July starts until September.
Duties
· Plan, prepare and teach high quality lessons on the full range of courses/levels offered by the school.
· Monitor progress and provide feedback regularly in fortnightly one to one meetings to help manage students’ performance throughout their course.
· Actively promote learner autonomy.
· Analyse student needs that inform weekly lesson planning.
· Be culturally sensitive when planning the content of lessons.
· Make every effort to create a classroom atmosphere which is conducive to maximising student involvement.
· Ensure safeguarding, and that guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas: Child protection, Equality Diversity and Inclusion, and Health and Safety.
Qualifications
Requirements:
-Recognised TEFL Qualification (CELTA, Trinity Cert TESOL or a University qualification)
-A degree is preferred
Salary and Benefits
£21.30 per hour for CELTA (or equivalent)
£22.06 per hour for DELTA (or equivalent)
