The University of Aberdeen is looking for four enthusiastic and motivated individuals to undertake the role of Summer Grounds Persons, within the Estates and Facilities section. The Estates Section requires Summer Grounds Persons to assist in the maintenance of University Gardens, Grounds and Playing Fields. Working 36.5 hours per week Monday to Friday for a period of 12 weeks from Monday 03 June to Saturday 31 August 2024. Successful candidates will be provided with a uniform, protective clothing and relevant training in order to carry out their duties.

The successful candidates will either be full-time at the Botanic Garden or full-time in the Grounds Department. Both roles will include a requirement to undertake all aspects of maintenance to grassed areas, flowerbeds and shrubberies, covering amenity and sport purposes.
This post would ideally suit an individual who enjoys working outside and in all weathers. Previous experience is desirable and having a horticultural background is advantageous.
The role will form part of the Estates Section which is part of the University’s Professional Services. With approximately 1,500 staff, Professional Services consists of a number of student and academic focused areas as well as other corporate and support areas.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 1, £21,713 per annum, pro rata with placement according to qualifications and experience.
