Glasgow City Council is able to provide a summer Internship from Monday 05 June 2023 – Friday 25 August 2023, inclusive.
Applicants must be available for the full duration of the placement.
The intern will work 35 hours per week and rate of pay will be the Glasgow Living Wage.
Interns will work for 12 weeks, during which time they will accrue 6 days leave, the payment of which is included in their Salary so must be taken during their 12 week placement.
The Sustainable Transport team lead the delivery of a number of active travel infrastructure projects in various stages of development, from initial concept design to construction.
In 2024/2025 the council will be allocated national funding to deliver new active travel infrastructure and behaviour change initiatives.
To work within a team of Engineering Officers, Technicians and Inspectors to support the delivery of design, construction, maintenance and inspection of various Sustainable and Active Travel infrastructure projects in the roads network within Glasgow City Council.
The intern will be part of a team which will deliver a range of projects from feasibility through to final delivery and operation. This role will support a team who are overseeing in the delivery of multi-million pound Sustainable Transport, Active Travel and City Deal Infrastructure Projects, in line with Council Strategic Plans.
This intern will support project teams to deliver GCCs responsibilities for design, managing and implementing significant projects that meet the Council’s key objectives in relation to developing and delivering the City’s infrastructure as part of our transformational commitments to Net Zero and Sustainable Transport set out in Council, regional and national strategies.
The intern will attend design meetings, undertake AutoCAD design tasks, ArcGIS tasks, report writing, data collection and assessment, site visits, consultation support and preparation, TRO distribution.
