Over the years, The Palace of Holyroodhouse has opened its doors to welcome thousands of visitors from around the World. By joining our exceptional Retail and Admissions team, you will play a pivotal role in creating an extraordinary experience.

As a Retail and Admissions Assistant, you’ll use your customer service skills to engage with and serve visitors and promote the products we have on offer. After training you’ll have the skills to excel in your position, helping your team reach sales targets in support of our aims.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers with a personalised touch, offering informed advice about our exquisite range of products.
• Collaborate with your team to achieve sales targets.
• Maintain a consistently friendly and professional demeanour, ensuring every customer receives excellent service.
• Efficiently replenish stock on the shop floor, contributing to a seamless shopping experience.
• Answering customer questions and informing them of other experiences and opportunities we offer.

Essential Criteria

• A naturally friendly, welcoming and professional attitude.
• Motivation and drive to reach targets.
• Proven team player, able to work flexibly and adapt to a variety of tasks.
• Good numeracy and computer literacy skills.
• The ability to work on your feet for much of the day.
• Customer service/sales experience is desired but not essential.

Please note that we have a number of summer vacancies at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Please consider which role will best suit your aims, skills and experience, as you can only submit one application.

Contract start dates: 17 June until 30th September 2024

You will typically work 37.25 hours per week and be rostered to work 5 days, Monday through to Sunday. Your rest days will be on a rolling 5-week rota pattern.

Selection processes are likely to take place week commencing 18 March 2024.
