Supply Chain Planner

Mowi Feed is the feed manufacturing division within Mowi, the Global leader in salmon farming, processing and marketing. Having entered production in June 2014, Mowi Feed has quickly established itself as a competitive supplier of salmon feed playing a key role in supporting Mowi Farming in its delivery of high quality, nutritious, safe and sustainable salmon.

Currently operating from its factories in Kyleakin, Isle of Skye in Scotland and in Valsneset in the Trøndelag Region of Norway, Mowi Feed has an annual production volume in the order of 500,000 tonnes per year. We manufacture a broad portfolio of conventional and organic feeds for both fresh and seawater phases of salmon growth in Scotland, Ireland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Norway.

The Role – Supply Chain Planner

Mowi Feed is seeking a structured and highly motivated Planner for its Supply Chain, to ensure all materials and plans are in place to keep production running in the most cost effective and efficient ways, as well as ensuring all orders are met on time and in full. This role is based in our Planning Department and involves close integration with the Operations Department.

The following is a taster of some of the Role and Responsibilities you can expect to get involved in, in co-operation with team members:

• working to ensure cost-effective utilisation of feed vessels, delivery planning, route planning and cost control, as well learning to receive and efficiently plan the storage of raw materials for feed production;
• week-by-week planning, which includes:
  • maintaining accurate stock records and end to end traceability;
  • creating accurate feed production plans to maximise efficiency, being mindful of available storage and resources (example, people, time, vessels, road loads);
  • assisting with the creation of manufacturing orders, and closing of orders once production is complete;
  • sending out daily updates to farming and vessels, as well as the team at Kyleakin;
  • being responsible for day to day management of the haulage booking system, and for ensuring paperwork is in place and completed for all incoming and outgoing products;
  • being responsible for the continuous development of processes;
  • providing support for the Operations (inbound/outbound logistics and process);
  • assisting with the administration of exports to third party countries.

Qualifications/Skills:

• We require applicants to be qualified to a degree level, but consideration will be given to those who can demonstrate transferable competences, skills and experience achieved through a different route, such as business, economics, logistics;
• Computer skills and proficiency with MS Office (particularly Excel) are required;
• Experience with M3, or similar system management tools/reporting systems, is an advantage but training can be provided;
• Good communication skills are essential, both written and spoken, to build positive relationships both internally and externally;
• The post holder also requires:

• Previous experience from logistics organisations, at any level, would also be an advantage.

The place of work will be in Mowi Fish Feed Plant at Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye and the position reports to the Planning Manager.
