Job description

TRFS is committed to paying 40ph above the Scottish Government’s Living Wage declared 2024/25 rate for Social Care. This means from April 2024 we intend to pay £12.40ph i.e. 40ph above the Scottish Government’s committed rate.

No previous experience in care is required as you will be provided with full training by our excellent and award-winning learning & development team prior to starting. This training initially consists of classroom-based sessions and e-learning as well as the opportunity to shadow current Support Practitioners in their day-to-day role and meet the people you will be supporting.

We have several services in this area that we are recruiting for. In these services we work with a range of clients with different needs including Autism, learning and physical disabilities and challenging behaviours. Support ranges from social support to medication administration and personal care. Staff will provide, physical and emotional support, administering medication, personal care, recording running notes, supporting individuals to appointments moving & handling of persons, homecare, financial support, support with daily living tasks, community based supports i.e. appointments and activities.

On top of this training we will also finance and support you to achieve your SVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care in-house!

Requirements:

As a Support Practitioner you could be expected to work weekends, shift patterns and sleepovers if required.

About the Role:

Your responsibilities will depend on the needs of the individuals that you support and can include:

  • Social Support- Assisting individuals to engage with their communities by planning and attending outings to various clubs and leisure activities such as day centres, bowling, cinema, swimming etc.
  • Medical Support- Administering and monitoring medication.
  • Personal Care- Assist people to maintain their wellbeing by promoting their personal care which would include assistance with showering/bathing, dressing, arranging visits with professionals such as dentists, doctors or opticians, assisting with incontinence care.
  • Practical Support- Helping people to maintain their tenancy by encouraging daily household tasks such as general housework, laundry, ironing, cooking, shopping.
