Job description

Support Work Assistant

Hours: Average 25 per week

Working Pattern: 4-week rolling rota basis, including bank holidays and weekends. Overnight shifts are sleep in shifts from 11pm.

Week1 – Monday 17.45- 6am, Friday 17:45-6am

Week2 – Tuesday 17.45- 6am, Saturday 17.45- 6am

Week3 - Wednesday 17.45-6am, Sunday 17.45- 6am

Week4 Thursday 17.45- 6am, Saturday 10am – 6pm, Sunday 10am – 6pm

  • Staff are offered the opportunity to undertake additional shifts to cover absences.
  • Mandatory attendance at supervision, team meetings and training outside of normal hours are paid.

Purpose of the Post: To provide the delivery of out of hours support to women living in our specialist refuge accommodation, specifically for women exploited within the sex industry and affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual Violence (VAWDASV). To support with the management of building safety and security.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Work with those in the accommodation in an empowering and engaging manner, as set out in Cyfannol policies.
  • To undertake some Support Work in line with support plan, needs or risk assessment and safety plan.
  • To assist in the planning and delivery of activities for women living in the accommodation.
  • Provide emotional support to exploited women, when needed.
  • To complete daily welfare checks.
  • To collect post or parcels and distribute to those living in the accommodation.
  • To support those living in Cyfannol properties to abide by house expectations and agreements in order to be safe and maintain their residency.
  • To support and encourage those residing in the accommodation to keep their living areas clean and risk free.
  • To turn around the rooms when women move on, ensuring they are clean and comfortable for the next resident.
  • To ensure that communal areas including kitchen, quiet room, laundry and garden are kept clean and risk free.
  • Take incoming telephone calls from women living in the accommodation.
  • Manage incidents/ emergencies within the accommodation, in conjunction with the on-site security guard.
  • To ensure that food stock, linen stock etc are replenished when needed and kept in a good order.
  • Occasionally assist colleagues in the event of incident/ emergency in another project.
  • Liaise with 2nd and 3rd Tier buddy as/ when required.
  • To ensure professionals coming into the accommodation are supervised and sign confidentiality agreements.
  • To carry out and record health and safety checks and property checks to the specifications required.
  • To complete fire drills and follow evacuation procedures, if needed.
  • To ensure that first aid boxes are stocked and rotate items.
  • Identifying repairs or maintenance issues and arrange for them to be rectified depending on level of urgency. Reporting to day staff, via the handover, any issues or concerns regarding any issues identified.
  • Carry out administrative duties such as record keeping, spreadsheet entry, Modus input.
  • Communicate and email handover of each shift to staff to ensure wider organisational updates/ news.
  • To keep clear records and correspondence trails.
  • To actively work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to achieve better outcomes for women affected by sexual exploitation, violence and sexual abuse.

General Responsibilities

  • To demonstrate and promote the charities ethos, vision and values.
  • To work within the organisations Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervisions, clinical supervisions, and away days.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required.
  • Attend training and be open to develop further understanding linked to sexual exploitation, sexual violence and abuse, health and safety or risk assessments.
