35-year-old female living in the Beverley area is looking for an experienced female Support Workers to support with 15 hours per week across 3 days. Every Tuesday 8am – 1pm. Every Wednesday 1pm – 5pm. Every Thursday 8am – 1pm.
Recipient of direct payments is a very passionate and talented artist, other interests include dogs, swimming, watching films, fashion, and shopping. Therefore, we are seeking Support Workers with similar interests.
Support needs include high functioning autism, hypertension, communication needs and mobility support which includes transfers and at times wheelchair use.
We are looking for applicants who are flexible, hardworking, sensitive, and able to provide consistency and routine to support mental health and wellbeing. Effective communication is essential.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- knowledge and experience of support needs
- thoughtfulness and consideration in their communication and actions.
- use of their own initiative whilst also ensuring that an environment for maximising independence and maintaining and safety in the home and in the community.
- Ways in which they monitor and respond effectively to changes in behaviours and presentation.
- positive encouragement in learning and independence.
- positively manage and respond to the needs of the individual through being calm, warm, caring, patient, compassionate, resourceful, proactive.
- be comfortable around dogs.
Duties will include.
- Administering medication and ordering medication.
- Support to develop independent living skills.
- Shopping and meal preparation
personal cares such as showering, and personal care prompts with toileting.
- dressing, undressing – and support with choosing of clothes.
- support to maintain routine.
- correspondence and attending appointments.
- engaging in the community and in activities
- Support with domestic tasks and encouraging independence.
- Must be prepared to liaise with other agencies/employment support when necessary.
The successful applicant will require have an understanding nature and be supportive and patient with the ability to manage situations and vulnerabilities. The candidate must be able to be sensitive to the needs of the individual, promoting privacy and dignity. It is essential that the candidate has a genuine interest in building and maintaining a positive relationship, engaging in activities that are of interest and meaningful for the individual in the home and in the community and ensuring that the individual gets the most and best quality out of her care package to maximise independence and enable full participation.
