The homes can accommodate young people aged 16-25 years old who require support to transition into their adulthood with success and confidence. Salary & Benefits:

Live-In Support Worker £806 per week worked

Rota 2 weeks on, 1 week off

Guaranteed breaks in between

QCF LEVEL 4 Health & Social care (Qualifying period / probation period successfully completed)

About the role…

The duties of a Live-In Support Worker typically include supporting young people with their independent living skills, developing their understanding on how to complete daily tasks for themselves and getting them ready to transition into their own tenancy with confidence.

We are dedicated to developing, encouraging and transiting our young people via the independent living programme.

The role as a Live-In Support Worker is to engage young people in education, training and employment. To support them in understanding the main aspects of each young person’s individual support plans

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. To provide and maintain a high level of support in an nurturing environment in which young people feel safe and secure in their home

2. Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them help and support when needed

3. Helping young people gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.

4. Positive behaviour support when directly working with young people who have emotional behavioural difficulties. De-escalation skills are required and must follow procedures in place for support.

5. Ensuring that each young people’s pathway plan is followed and completing their independent living programme

6. Supporting, guiding and assisting young people with cooking, cleaning, making appointments, attending education, training and employment. Allowing them to grow into their adulthood with a good understanding

7. To act as an advocate/keyworker if professionals meetings are needed

8. To provide a positive role model to be able to offer advice, guidance and assistance where appropriate.

9. Being ambitious for young people, helping them achieve their goals and optimise their potential.

10. Enjoy sharing experiences and memories with young people going on activities in the community and within the home.

11. Providing support for young people in their education, training and employment, this may also mean supporting them with studying at times if requested

12. Keeping accurate records and providing them with key worker sessions and allow young people to maintain control over their independence

13. Empowering young people and facilitating their active involvement in the decision making about their lives and future.

  • To follow and adhere to the supported accommodation regulations including the quality standards
  • To have great understanding of the SCIFF and continue ongoing support for the registered service manager for each service we provide

General Responsibilities:

1. Attending young people meetings (professional and house), parents’ evenings and any other relevant meetings required.

2. Supporting young people to appointments until they feel confident to go alone.

3. Receiving training appropriate to the role and maintaining an up-to-date training profile.

4. Responsibility for the accurate maintenance of daily record keeping as per company policies.

5. Responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with the requirements of the organisational Health and Safety Policies.

Special Conditions:

1. This post requires the holder to do a “live in” Support Worker role. This consists of 2 weeks on 1 week of rota pattern. During this time you will receive a 2 hour break each day which equates to 14 hours a week as per employment law regulations.

2. Be able to work “lone work” but receive a hierarchy support network from senior Support Workers, team leaders and service managers overseeing each home.

3. On occasions you may be requested to change your rota at a given notice as per your contract, to ensure the contingencies of the service are covered. This may also include cover in emergency measures.

4. In accordance with the guidelines on Health and Safety, to accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and reporting any concerns to the Registered Service Manager.

5. To undertake such other duties appropriate to the grade of the post and the needs of the Home such as decorating, gardening to develop and maintain service delivery.

6. This post requires the holder to always have a clear enhanced DBS check

7. This may include overseas checks and police checks may be required for visa purposes. Changes to personal circumstances which may affect this must be notified to your line manager immediately. The initial checks will be funded by the company and at no cost to the employee.

To work as part of a team:

1. Being aware of the aims and objectives of the home's statement of purposes and working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve them.

2. Attending team/ staff meetings and making a positive contribution to them.

3. Actively contributing to the development of the team.

4. Receiving and storing information to improve communication.

5. Being willing to give and receive feedback on performance with colleagues and managers.

6. Being aware of young people’s support plans, risk assessments, independent living programme and support for colleagues by maintaining consistency in the execution of those plans.

7. Providing informal practical and emotional support to colleagues experiencing difficulties.

8. Attending and contributing to regular supervision sessions

9. Monitoring the conduct of colleagues and referring on any causes for concern (Whistleblowing)

10. Being familiar with all policies and procedures and adhering to them.
