Support Worker- Grade B
About the role….
We are looking to recruit a Support Worker within our Supporting Independence Service. The Supporting Independence Service is a growing service and has a growing customer base.
The successful candidates will work in a number of customers' homes across Gateshead, providing low level support aiding and encouraging customers to remain independent in their own home.
Contracted hours will vary in line with demand; all posts are Monday to Friday and are part time.
The key roles of the post are included in the job profile and include a wide range of duties to promote people's independence, skills, confidence and wellbeing. The service also delivers housework and small errands; ensuring that customers' needs are met and their homes are cleaned to a specified standard.

You must have …
- A positive attitude towards older people and sympathetic to their needs
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant principles and values e.g. privacy, confidentiality and choice
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of people.
- The ability to keep records and logs of activity.
- Knowledge of the working processes of the safeguarding system
- Experience of using cleaning equipment and materials
- Good standard of basic education, including literacy and numeracy
