Somerville Assisted Living is a 40-bed residential service offering care and support to adults over the age of 55, some with a primary diagnosis of Dementia.
Due to continued growth within our team, we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our amazing supportive team. As a Support Worker, you will provide outstanding essential care, support and assistance to our Residents in need. Your role will involve patient care, behaviour management, and assisting with daily activities. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Roles and Responsibilites:
As a Support Worker, you will be involved in the day-to-day support and routine of the people we support including:
-Provide personal care and support to Residents within our assisted living facility.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals
- Monitor and record vital signs
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding where necessary and/or serving lunch to our Residents & clearing tables and the Restaurant area.
- Help with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Implement behaviour management strategies to promote a safe and supportive environment
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of care provided
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, such as nurses, to ensure the well-being of individuals.
-Supporting our Residents with various activities both in the service and outside of the service on trips and shopping.
-Promoting independence for the Residents we support whilst helping them live a fulfilling life.
-Practicing safe systems of work across a range of tasks
-Working closely with the Executive Chef and other Kitchen Assistant/s to deliver a high standard of work and ensuring all Safety at Work legislation is adhered to.
-To cover the emergency handset if required by the business on an ad-hoc basis.
-Any other ad-hoc duties as may be reasonably associated with this role.
Experience:
- Previous experience in patient care or home care is preferred
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques is an asset
- Familiarity with medication administration is desirable
- First aid certification is a plus
-Care Certification required
