Central is currently recruiting for a Support Worker, to work in the Paddington area. The service is a 17 bed hotel providing support to those with complex needs/experiencing homelessness.
The successful candidates will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Cover is required for approximately 2 months (until 31st March). The pay rate for this role is £15.06 per hour, with £1.82 holiday pay, totalling £16.88 per hour.
In this position, you will be expected to;
- Support the running of the hotel
- Keep track of the debrief document and keep up to date with the safety information document
- Keep clear records of room numbers, welfare checks and booking in sheets
- Support the team with administration around the booking in process
- Collate information from the team/clients throughout the day to support handover and the smooth running of the service
- Answer the duty phone and respond to and handle queries that come through
- Respond to client queries day-to-day and escalate to caseworkers where needed
- Follow up with caseworkers on any concerns raised regarding clients
- Complete daily welfare/room checks on all residents and follow up actions on those who haven't been seen for 48 hours. Hand back any concerns to shift support or manager for include in debrief
- Support with food distribution
- Support with the access of partners to the building like Turning Point and Health Teams, and facilitate them meeting with clients. Where needed act as double cover during these appointments
- Report any maintenance issues

- Experience of working with people experiencing homelessness, who have 'inter-connecting needs' such as substance dependency, mental health and physical health issues
- Experience of working with people that exhibit challenging behaviour and being able to manage this effectively by employing de-escalation techniques
- Experience of working in a strengths based and trauma informed way
- IT Skills including the following; data input and administrative skills, use of databases, use of Outlook, experience uploading, downloading and editing documents
- The ability to work as a team and communicate well
- Ability to be proactive
Please note; there are 4 flights of stairs at this service and there is no lift.

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
