The Role
As a Support Worker, you will identify and provide intensive support to individuals with complex needs who are further away from employment or training as part of our LifeSkills Plus Programme.
Using a strengths-based approach, you will deliver a range of face to face support, activities and interventions to increase confidence and improve mental health. You will also provide support to widen social networks, help with Budgeting and enable individuals to seek training, work or volunteering opportunities.
Activities will vary between home visits and informal and structured support groups and you will ensure risks are managed to cover the safeguarding of service users, colleagues, volunteers and partners.
Additionally, you will:
- Respond to any safeguarding concerns
- Increase opportunities for others to influence the way services are designed and delivered
- Ensure case recording is of a high standard and uploaded within timescales
- Support the monitoring and reviewing of the delivery of the service
- Work with service users to complete application forms for small LifeSkills grants
About You
To be considered as a Support Worker, you will need:
- Experience in health, social care, education or counselling
- Experience working in services that deliver positive outcomes
- Experience giving advice, guidance and support and signposting to appropriate services
- Experience carrying out 1:1 sessions, running groups and evaluating their effectiveness
- Knowledge of health and safety and safeguarding issues
- An understanding of mental health and disability, drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, worklessness, poverty and the way these impact individuals and family life
- An understanding of the impact of discrimination and social exclusion
- A professional qualification equivalent to at least NVQ 3 in health, social care, education or counselling
Please note, this role will involve working flexibly to support the success of the programme as well as working occasional evenings and weekends and undertaking national travel with overnight stays when required.
