Job Overview & Responsibilities:
Gateway is a charitable organisation that provides support to vulnerable individuals in our community. We are currently offering some excellent job opportunities and are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team! We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Support Worker who will assist our service users who have learning difficulties. You will be responsible for various activities and implementing our support packages which are designed to provide person centred support; whether it be learning a new skill, band practice, a shopping trip, ten-pin bowling, or an evening out at their favourite restaurant and theatre shows.
You will provide personalised support to enable wholesome, healthy and varied lifestyles to clients (of various ages) within our services.
Structured support packages are provided where we would give assistance with attending appointments, healthy eating choices, signposting, accessing the community, getting involved in meaningful activities, and assisting with personal care and medication (depending on the client group).
Excellent people skills and team working attributes are equally as essential as the ability to work independently. You will be responsible for key working duties and assisting other clients with key work-related tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks
- Monitor and report any changes in client's condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals
- Follow care plans and ensure the safety and well-being of clients
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience preferred
- Ability to drive and have a valid driver's license
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with clients
- Fluent in English is essential
- Compassionate and empathetic nature
- Ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
