Support Worker
Location: North Chailey
Salary: £24,960- £27,289 per annum (depending on shift/hours worked) Enhanced pay for weekends
Hours: 14 - 40 hrs per week / Monday - Sunday shift pattern on a rota basis

The Role

The Foundation have various hours available to change your world and theirs, supporting children and young adults with physical disabilities and complex health needs to help them to gain more independence and reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- To provide support and guidance in accordance with their Person-Centred Plan. This includes doing health action plans and risk assessments.
- To prepare and administer medication and gastrostomy feeds (once trained and assessed as competent).
- To ensure personal aids and equipment are maintained in good order and always ready for use when necessary.
- Ensuring that the children and young people’s hygiene needs are taken care of safely and with dignity through Intimate care
- How to safely manage children and young people who have Epilepsy seizures, and what to do in an emergency.
- Learn to use all sorts of Manual Handling equipment and technics with the children and young people while keeping them and yourself safe.
- You will be trained to understand all aspects of safeguarding, with an emphasis on what this means for children and young people with disabilities.
- Supporting children and enabling them to achieve learning outcomes in line with their Individual Education Programme.
- Supporting young adults to gain skills and knowledge in order to be able to make informed choices and map a range of options for their future lives.
- Encouraging development of social and life skills, as well as participation in the wider community, as far as possible.
- Enabling children to participate in a range of enjoyable activities.
For all these duties and more, you will receive first class induction and ongoing training from qualified professionals and you will not be expected to carry them out alone until you have completed all the relevant training.

Essential:
- Excellent communication skills (Good basic understanding of Maths, English and IT)
- Willingness to complete care certificate and a level 3 Diploma.
- Must be commitment to work towards recognised qualification
- Having a basic understanding of the care and support needs of people with physical disabilities and respecting them as individuals
Desirable:
- Full manual driving license valid for UK
- Willingness to drive the Foundation vehicles including minibuses
- Experience of working with children and/or adults with disabilities
