Support worker

Hours of work: Early Shift, Day Shift, Late Shift, Long Day, Waking Nights, Sleep-In Nights

We are interested in hearing from Support and Personal Care Workers who want to join our team and assist with day-to-day support for service users within Brighton and Hove County Council Residential and Supported Living Units.
We are looking for competent care assistants to support physically and/or mentally challenged service users in their everyday lives, enabling their independence as far as is possible. The support required takes into account the varying needs of people including those recovering from an operation or illness, with mild to severe learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, sensory impairments, dysphagia, epilepsy, and the beginnings of age-related conditions, particularly dementia. The fulfilment and satisfaction that comes with helping others surpasses the challenges of this job.
If you are a compassionate, positive person who isn't afraid to work hard, then this is a job for you. We expect you to be polite and a good communicator. Experience in housekeeping tasks and caring for the elderly or sick will make you a strong candidate.
N.B. We provide services to the general public, customers, and service users, therefore you must be able to communicate fluently in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
Your responsibilities will include:
Following care plans, routines, guidelines, risk assessments, and Behaviour Management PlansPersonal hygiene, bathing and dressingAdministering medication as required (with training)Mobility support: moving and handling, hoistingAssisting clients with physical therapy exercisesAssisting with preparing appropriate meals and feeding where requiredProviding social interaction and emotional supportHousehold chores, including tidying, cleaning, washing, ironing and shoppingPaperwork: Handover notes and inform physicians or supervisors of uncommon eventsAct quickly and responsibly in cases of emergencyRequirements and skills:
Proven experience as a personal care assistantCommitted to health and safetyAble to do housework and cookWell-organised and reliableExcellent communication and people skillsPositive and compassionate attitudeStrong ethicsPhysical staminaA good Care Assistant is a compassionate, supportive and well-rounded individual. Maintaining reliability and organisation is also vital. These traits are imperative to provide the necessary support and comfort to recovering, disabled or frail clients.
Training and annual refresher training will be provided and paid for by Guidant Global.
You must have access to transport to be able to get to the various sites throughout Brighton and Hove
