The job itself
Weekend staff required to join an existing team supporting 3 ladies with learning difficulties to live in their ISL home and the local community of Driffield. The ladies, aged 37 to 42, enjoy an active varied life and are looking for additional staff to support them in this, as well as to broaden their experiences.About us. We are a cooperative of three families who joined together, through ERYC, to provide an Independent Supported Living home for our family members. We have been established for 11years in a lovely detached house in the centre of Driffield. The home offers a warm, supportive and active environment, encouraging participation in the local and wider community.
About the role. You will join an existing team of staff supporting three ladies with learning difficulties. The ladies each have a varied range of things they enjoy doing both within the home and the community: walking, swimming, music, dancing, crafts, museums, art galleries, gardens and VW camper vans. The role is to help the ladies engage in these activities. Sharing some of your own interests with them and broadening their experience would be welcomed. Within the home, support the ladies with personal care. The ability to prepare food and enable the ladies to help with this is required. In addition, help them to maintain their home.
About you. Experience of working with people who have learning difficulties is desirable. You should be able to work on a one-to-one basis or as part of a team. Driving licence would be an advantage. Would be required not to smoke during hours of employment. A genuine occupational requirement for a female worker exists for this post under the Equality Act 2010 due to privacy and decency.
Hours Available. The timing of these mean that more than one person will be needed: Friday 2.15pm–10pm; Saturday 7am–3.30pm; alternate Saturday 9am–5pm, Saturday 4pm–10pm, Sunday 4pm-10pm.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – cost to be met by the local authority.
