The Role:
- Promote a positive sustainability culture within the business; this will include but not limited to a combination of education and training, challenging existing ways of working, and offering support and guidance.
- Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of relevant sustainability regulation, business arrangements, standards and best practice.
- Report to the Project Environmental Manager whilst working across multiple project disciplines.
- Maintain, implement, monitor and report against the Project Sustainability Report.
- Develop and maintain a live project Sustainability Activities Register which includes identifying activities, assessing the significance of their impacts, and undertaking benefits appraisal.
- Identify, support and facilitate sustainability initiatives and improvements, such as the development and monitoring of sustainability KPIs.
- Identify and undertake sustainability related assurance activities.
- Support the sustainability governance structure for example through attendance of committees.
- Assess and manage sustainability opportunities and risks.
- Help ensure project design & optioneering adequately include and address sustainability requirements, for example BREEAM.
- Support the production of reports addressing sustainability issues and advice.
- Experience of leading and promoting sustainability across multiple disciplines at each stage of the project lifecycle, particularly; procurement, planning, design, engineering, decommissioning, construction, and operations.
- Knowledge of practical methods for assessing and improving sustainability.
- Experience of monitoring and reporting against sustainability measures.
- Be confident and have strong influencing skills to manage conflicting demands and opinions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of disciplines.
- Highly motivated and capable of managing a large and diverse workload.
