We are currently looking for a Sustainability and Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at Hazlehead. If you want to make a difference and work for a purpose-led company, please read on.

 

 

The role
We are currently looking for a Sustainability and Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at Hazlehead. Reporting to the Process Improvement Engineer, The Sustainability and Environmental Compliance Specialist will ultimately lead Wavin’s Hazlehead site on Environmental Compliance (UK ETS, IPPC & ISO 14001 accreditation), and be a key player in achieving Orbia’s sustainability targets by owning data collection, educating on-site stakeholders, and delivering results.  

 

Responsibilities
Sustainability:
•    Understanding, questioning, and reporting of figures through ODISEO – Orbia’s sustainability metric system – which contributes to group wide KPIs
•    Educate site leads and key stakeholders on the system and Orbia’s vision with regard to the metrics
•    Develop a network of contacts within the business to ensure required information is obtained and recorded in a timely fashion to meet quarterly reporting deadlines
Environmental Compliance / Regulatory Bodies (UK ETS):
•    Become an expert in the UK ETS system, starting as the secondary contact, and ultimately becoming the primary contact:
•    Lead on annual verifications with Lucideon (Our verifier)
•    Understand the repercussions of not adhering to set deadlines/the permit (e.g., fines, notices, non-conformances)
•    As an EA contact, you will understand the importance of the site’s GHGE permit, when to notify the EA of alterations and what is expected of us as an installation.
•    Review & update scheme relevant internal site procedures and train them out to first line managers/shift managers so they understand their responsibilities
•    Take ownership of data collection, activity level reporting and the associated METS system
Environmental Compliance / Regulatory Bodies (IPPC & ISO 14001):
•    Become the main environmental contact for the Local Authority (Barnsley Council)
•    As a contact of the Council, you will understand the importance of the site’s IPPC permit, when to notify the Council of alterations and what is expected of us as an installation. 
•    Organise infrequent emissions (to air, land and water) testing and associated data collection
•    Support on control statement completion and general adherence to ISO 14001.

                                               

Profile
•    Competent with figures of varying magnitudes and units
•    Previous industry experience in heavy manufacturing
•    Comfortable in presenting work / delivering meetings
•    Approachable and confident to approach colleagues to collaborate and achieve results
•    Reasonable level of competence with Microsoft Office (Especially Excel)
•    An appreciation of cost/finance to offer expertise on projects around relevant subject areas
