Hart Recruitment is seeking a Sustainability Officer for a construction company based in West Bromwich. The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive salary of up to £45000 per year depending on experience, along with a fantastic benefits package including an electric company car.
This is a full-time, permanent, office-based role at the company's Head Office in West Bromwich. Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm with 1 hour lunch break.
Key Responsibilities as a Sustainability Officer:
Sustainability
- Ensure continued development of business sustainability, supporting clients and employees to deliver sustainable long-term outcomes through well-planned projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to reduce carbon emissions in line with targets, achieving Net Zero company status by 2050, also set and manage Carbon Targets for key clients.
- Review, revise, and oversee sustainability proposals and policies and develop new projects and initiatives
- Write grant applications or project proposals to acquire funding for sustainability projects
- Identify and obtain any necessary resources for sustainability programs or projects
- Assess or propose sustainability initiatives based on factors such as cost-effectiveness and technical feasibility
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate the outcomes of sustainability initiatives, for both senior management and clients. Prepare carbon reports required for company accreditations
- Ensure company website communicates sustainability information accurately
- Gather information about waste management and green building practices
- Monitor sustainability markers such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling
Social Values
- Review and revise social value policies and initiatives
- Co-ordinate social value activities within the business
- Ensure that social responsibility and sustainability principles are integrated into company operations and ethos.
- Deliver social impact reports on client contracts
- Attend community and careers events to help promote opportunities within the organization
- Help promote diversity and inclusion across the business
As our Sustainability Officer, you will have:
- Science degree in climate or environmental science or other relevant discipline
- 2/3 years' experience in sustainability, environmental data management, and social value reporting
- Effective communication and organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to manage your own time and workload, using your initiative on how to drive business sustainability forward
- Knowledge of the EcoVadis sustainability platform (an advantage but not essential
