About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF TIFFENY’S POWERFUL VOICE

At Westminster City Council, we don’t just listen to the voices and experiences of our residents – we listen to our people too. Tiffeny is a single mum whose young son has ADHD and before joining our team, she never thought she’d find a job that gave her flexibility and freedom to support her son’s needs. As a neurodivergent woman herself, she also never expected to be part of a team that not only supports her needs, but actively celebrates them – where people encourage her to be her true self. And that’s what she found here at the City of Westminster.

Working as an Engagement Officer Within the corporate property team means that she gets to meet people from all walks of life within the community supporting the development of positive change, especially being the voice for young people where it matters – in education, training, or employment. Her experiences and her amazing ability to relate to others means that within the first few months of joining our team, she’d already made a huge impact on things like accessibility in the Borough. Tiffeny feels heard and that’s because we know how important it is to listen.

The Role:

As the Sustainability Programme Manager of our Sustainability and Data Insight team you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster’s success. Leading energy Sustainability Programmes that support the key corporate objectives of our Climate Emergency Action Plan, it will be your task to develop projects for our property estate that contribute to our zero-carbon city plan, and then communicate and embed these across the Council.

Working with a range of stakeholders and services to develop bespoke performance measures that are regularly monitored, reported against and challenged, you’ll ensure that the investments we make have the maximum impact on the sustainability agenda. Leading a number of cross-cutting corporate initiatives, we’ll also expect you to drive continuous improvement within the team to ensure the service delivered is lean and of the highest quality.

Committed to developing relationships that embed a positive and collaborative mindset, you’ll provide inspirational guidance, advice and expertise on sustainability energy programmes across the service. In addition, you’ll monitor budgets, forecasts, actual expenditure, warranties and commercial agreements with suppliers and contractors, and ensure that all the necessary approvals are in place.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

With the ability to review and improve business processes, and deliver positive improvements across a service, you’ll be a confident team manager and have a good understanding of sustainability issues, policies and legislation. Capable of analysing financial and performance information, understanding business contexts and extracting key facts to deliver improvement and opportunities, you’ll also have advanced change, project and programme management skills.

An inspirational communicator with the ability to identify and resolve issues and problems at speed, you’ll be a strategic thinker with the confidence to challenge and influence the status quo. Skilled at translating strategic objectives into operational plans, you’ll also have a strong customer focus and be ready to apply advanced interpersonal skills to motivate, coach and develop the other members of your team to high levels of performance.

The Council is committed to achieving diverse shortlists to support our desire to increase the number of staff from underrepresented groups in our workforce. We especially encourage applications from a global majority background and, while the role is open to all applicants, we will utilise the positive action provisions of the Equality Act 2010 to appoint a candidate from a global majority background where there is a choice between two candidates of equal merit. If you are from a Global Majority background, you can self-declare this to the hiring manager as part of our positive action commitments.
