We are looking for a Switchboard/Departmental Coordinator to join our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Group.

The Central Office concept has proven its worth during the Evolution Project ‘try before you buy’ and is now being established as a permanent capability in line with Faculty and Department approaches. It will ensure efficient, effective, coherent administrative support to the leadership team and wider department.
The Switchboard coordinator is the initial point of contact for external enquiries into the University of Bath. The incumbent coordinates with department and university colleagues to connect the enquirer with the right person or department to address their needs. They ensure phone calls are handled in a professional, positive, empathetic and efficient manner, collecting appropriate information to hand over to the relevant team within the University. In addition, they ensure calls are recorded appropriately in the call management system. This role provides administrative support to DDaT and is the University Switchboard operator.
This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis.
About you
Providing administrative support to the department as a member of the Central Office team, you will ensure optimal forward planning for pan-department activity and events including all staff meetings.
The role requires effective, timely coordination with the agility and flexibility to respond to unexpected change and balance urgent, conflicting priorities.
You will:
- Have strong communication skills.
- Be able to negotiate with peers.
- Prioritise requests with minimal direction and decline requests with tact and diplomacy when essential.
- Considerable flexibility and agility will be required to switch between tasks and manage an unpredictable workload.
