As part of the IT Department and reporting to the Head of Solutions Delivery, the post holder will be
leading a team of 9 specialist technology staff across South Yorkshire and Humberside Police. The team delivers and supports a wide range of databases that underpin applications that are critical to operational policing and the support services offered by both Forces.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills and knowledge to support policing in South Yorkshire and Humberside. The successful candidate will be leading a dynamic, fast-paced team whose key responsibilities are managing incidents, problems, database installation and support for Force systems as well as been an integral part in developing Force strategies around data and reporting. The post holder will also be expected to balance resources between business as usual and project activity.
As the Data Services Manager you will be responsible for:
- Managing Team of Technical Specialists supporting the Oracle and SQL Server Estate.
- Managing Key Stakeholders.
- Ensuring the provision of Data Services for Force applications across both Forces through incident, problem, change management processes and supporting backup, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity.
- Ensuring that the Data Services Team are meeting Performance KPIs.
- Responsible for and delivering the Business value through the management of Force data.
- Championing the business benefits of Data Tools available with the Force.
- Contributing to the overall quality of data held within Force Systems.
Skills and experience:
- Experience of Management and Leadership of a technical team.
- Experience of a Database Solutions (Oracle, MS SQL Server)
- Knowledge of Reporting Solutions at a Strategic Level.

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
