We are recruiting for the latest member of our Financial Advice Systems team. If you have a passion for driving forward improvements, enjoy working in a fast paced and agile environment, as well as having a curious mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving skills, then this may be the job for you!
Who Are We?
Not just another building society. Not just another job.
We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.
Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.
Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.
You will be joining the FinancialAdvice Systems team, consisting of 4 System Specialists, 1 Testing Specialist and 8 System Analysts. The systems that we use to Onboard our customers into our Financial Advice proposition at Skipton, are at the forefront of everything we do. Our core role is to work closely with all teams across the business, to maintain the best possible system performance and support the delivery of change. But we are also working on lots of other exciting things too, such as supporting the testing and implementation of new technology for our advice process.
What’s In It For You?
Skipton values work/life balance and we are proud to support hybrid and flexible working, where possible. We have a newly refurbished head office which offers a vibrant and collaborative working space.
We have a range of other benefits available to you including:
- Annual discretionary bonus scheme
- 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days
- Holiday trading scheme allowing the ability to buy and sell additional annual leave days
- Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum)
- Colleague mortgage (conditions apply)
- A salary sacrifice scheme for hybrid & electric car
- A commitment to training and development
- Private medical insurance for all our colleagues
- 3 paid volunteering days per annum
- Diverse and inclusive colleague networks available for you to join including our Carers and Pride Alliance groups
- We care about your health and wellbeing – we provide a range of benefits that support this including cycle to work initiative and discounted gym membership
What Will You Be Doing?
- Becoming a subject matter expert for our core Financial Advice systems, so that you can be a point of contact and support colleagues with how they are used.
- Use your problem-solving skills to complete root cause analysis for system issues and follow issues from being raised to resolution by working closely with other departments and 3rd party suppliers.
- Identify key trends to share with and support other business areas with hot spots for training and data requirements.
- Assist with the delivery of change by working closely with other departments to raise requests and complete cost-benefit analyses, whilst adhering to agile principles.
- Conduct testing of changes and system upgrades, whilst learning to write test scripts and communicating changes to the business.
What Do We Need From You?
The ideal candidate for this role will take the initiative to explore both issues and improvement opportunities for our Financial Advice systems, with curiosity at the heart of your approach. Ideally, you will be able to draw on your knowledge of Financial Advice and the customer journey to be able to improve our processes. You will take ownership of your own development, becoming a system expert, alongside enhancing your communication, influencing and organisational skills. You will also have a passion for identifying bugs/issues using both manual and automated tests, working as hard as you can to ‘break’ the new product or change. Previous experience of working with the Focus system would be advantageous, though full training will be provided. Last but not least, you will take an analytical and data-backed approach to solving-problems, with great attention to detail to support the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
