Job description

Salary: £28,119 up to £37,492 dependent upon experience

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

We are the UK's aviation regulator and recognised as a world leader in its field. Our activities are diverse, enabling the aviation industry to meet the highest safety standards, and we pride ourselves on our ability to adapt to the constantly evolving aviation environment.

The Role

Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems have become ubiquitous, and we’re just starting to explore their application in modern society. As this emerging industry begins to flourish, the CAA must be there to support its growth and ensure its continuing safety. To this end, in 2019 we launched the Drone and Model Aircraft Registration and Education Service (DMARES). Functionally, DMARES is a cloud-based portal that anyone operating a drone in the UK, personally or commercially, that weighs over 250g must register on.

Since its launch, DMARES has exceeded all expectations and has seen incredible demand for its services. This demand highlights the necessity of this service and we at the CAA are committed to ensuring that our systems provide the best experience for our customers. To this end, we’re looking for someone to join the Future Safety Product Team as a Systems Analyst/System Support Analyst.

The role of the Systems Analyst is to support the Product Owner in the coordination, development, configuration, maintenance, operation, and the ongoing administration of the Azure cloud-based system. This will require you to regularly review & analyse data from the system and utilise it to define and deliver CAA wide improvements as well as produce reports / other publications. Additionally, you will ensure that the DMARES system, associated business processes and related procedures adhere to organisational processes, policies and guidelines. As well as this, you will also be responsible for ensuring the solutions and teams comply with relevant administration requirements and governance processes.

About You

  • Experience as a Systems Analyst, Systems Support Analyst, Business Analyst, Service Owner, Product Owner or Product Manager
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation to both technical and business audiences
  • Strong influencing and persuasion skills
  • Excellent documentation and written communication skills (SOP manuals, workbook updates, creating support tickets, etc)
  • Experience working with cloud-based systems, Azure or AWS
  • Some experience with aviation subject matter, more specifically drones, would be desirable
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong relationship building skills – both internal/external
  • Understanding of advanced Excel or basic Power BI concepts
  • Experience in the production of reports, process mapping and provision of analysis in a variety of formats
  • Understanding of integration concepts and tools
  • Experience in requirements gathering
