Tax Manager
My client is expanding its organisation and is currently in search of a Tax Manager to join their growing Tax team. This role is ideal for a Tax Manager or Tax Senior from a small or medium-sized practice seeking the next phase in their career. Valuable experience in managing tax compliance for Shareholders, Directors, and Owner-Managed Businesses (OMBs) in the private client sector is highly advantageous. They are looking for a creative and adaptable individual ready for a role that offers variety from the usual routine. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Office, you will be responsible for managing tax compliance and supervising the Tax and Finance Assistant.
Role Purpose
This position offers a diverse range of responsibilities and requires an individual with solid experience in practical applications. The role encompasses involvement in transactions from planning to implementation and reporting. In return the client will provide a transparent career path and supportive measures for progression within the company and offer occasional opportunities for travel within the UK and overseas.
Accountabilities
Assist with Inheritance Tax (IHT) compliance.
Review VAT Returns for trading companies.
Collaborate with external tax advisers globally.
Manage personal tax records, claims, and returns.
Address tax issues and reportable items, informing senior management.
Handle tax aspects of a diverse investment portfolio.
Ensure UK Trusts' tax compliance and manage the Trust Register.
Implement Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT, Income Tax, and Corporation Tax.
Review preliminary Corporation Tax computations.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate is a confident tax adviser, preferably CTA qualified, with at least two years of experience in Personal Tax. Beneficial skills include exposure to Corporation Tax, VAT, and knowledge of CIS. Proficient in proactive task prioritisation, problem-solving and thorough investigation of tax issues, you should also be tactful and assertive in dealing with diverse individuals. Strong IT skills, flexibility, and a learning-oriented mindset make you a valuable team player comfortable working independently.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.15pm
