Cranleigh seeks to appoint, for September 2024, a strong honours graduate to teach A-level Business Studies and Economics. This split of teaching can vary according to the successful candidate’s strengths and experience. This post would equally suit someone who is looking to start a career in the subject, or someone who already has some experience in the profession. The successful candidate will teach Sixth Form classes in a lively and ambitious Department, as well as taking a full part in the life of this busy and friendly boarding school.
Cranleigh is a leading fully co-educational independent boarding and day Senior School consisting of around 700 girls and boys of 13 – 18 years of age. There is also a Preparatory School in close proximity.
Cranleigh aspires to be a beacon of excellence in learning and teaching and is committed to the continuing professional development of all employees.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable professional who can effectively communicate their passion for Business Studies and Economics, bringing some humour as well as subject knowledge with them. The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of, and a real enthusiasm for Business Studies and/or Economics and is likely to hold a good honours degree in Economics, Business Studies or a related subject. They will be self-motivated and will relish the challenge presented by being part of a relatively new and forward-thinking Department. A commitment to students, the department and the wider life of the School, plus a firm grasp of curricular developments are important as are empathy, being well-organised, a sense of humour and the ability to enhance the department’s delivery and development of Business Studies and Economics.
The successful candidate will be expected to get involved in all aspects of this busy boarding school (which would normally include one evening duty per week), including acting as a tutor to a group of students within a Boarding House. All teachers are expected to contribute to the School’s co-curricular programme and co-curricular activities alongside their academic responsibilities.
Please read ‘Join Our Team’ and the ‘Recruitment Pack’ to be found on our website, to gain an impression of the ethos to which it is expected that the successful candidate will contribute.
