Catch22 Include

Catch22 Include is an alternative education provider for young people, over 700 vulnerable young people with challenging behaviours are supported through independent alternative education schools or via a range of tailored support programmes delivered in school or off-site. Include schools provide an alternative to mainstream schooling, whereby multiple barriers to learning have previously affected engagement and access to education. Catch22 Include schools provide an alternative to mainstream schooling for young people aged 5 to 11 years old where multiple barriers to learning have previously affected engagement and access to education.

Catch22 include Norfolk is an Ofsted registered independent school. It provides full-time, alternative, secondary education for young people who have been excluded from their previous school or pupil referral unit, or who need additional support to what is offered by a mainstream setting.


Job Description


The role of Teacher is a highly rewarding opportunity. You will be providing an invaluable programme of education, for vulnerable students who have challenging emotional and behavioural difficulties.

In this role, you will work in our alternative education provision to provide online teaching for students in Norwich and Kings Lynn - there is flexibility for remote working.

Our KS3 and KS4 students are taught in small groups, online and in school, and the work is intensive, requiring flexibility, patience, and resilience. Communication and professionalism are paramount within the team, and the ability to build rapport and liaise effectively with students, families, carers, and agencies, is key to this role.

About You

  • A passion for achieving positive outcomes for young people, and life-long learning.
  • Able to work with, and engage all students, with creativity and passion towards subjects.
  • An excellent verbal and written communicator, with the ability to utilise various teaching and organisational styles and resources, including ICT, to deliver outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Experience of working with young people who have complex behavioural and additional learning needs, with the ability to apply and adapt a robust knowledge of teaching, learning, and behavioural techniques and strategies.
  • Able to build positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers, with the ability to cope with emotionally demanding situations, working as part of a team to provide a holistic educational package.
  • Experience of teaching KS4, producing schemes of work and lesson plans, problem-solving student issues, and working through barriers to learning.

Main Duties and Accountabilities

  • Creating an inspirational learning environment, with high expectations of learner achievement, success, progression, and behaviour.
  • Maintaining good order and discipline among the students, and safeguarding their wellbeing.
  • Planning, producing, and updating schemes of work, to meet curriculum, inspection, compliance, and accreditation requirements, in consideration of guidance from the DfE and other regulatory bodies.
  • Developing learning resources and learning routes to meet learner needs, and supporting and guiding learners, so that they can reflect on their learning, identify progress made and set positive improvement targets.
  • Building effective and supporting relationships with students and families/carers, embedding that trust and support within the education process, sharing knowledge and best practice, and liaising with outside agencies where appropriate.
  • Undertaking associated administration tasks such as examination/accreditation entries for learners, register taking, and invigilation.
  • Complying with policies and procedures including safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, data protection, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • A recognised higher qualification, with significant experience of teaching and planning, with a willingness to work towards QTS.
  • A sound knowledge of planning and assessment techniques, with previous experience of teaching KS3 and KS4 pupils.
  • A good understanding of the National Curriculum and its application, and knowledge of the statutory requirements of equal opportunities, discrimination, health and safety, safeguarding, and child protection.

Salary:
Up to £40,000 per annum
Hours of work: Full time, 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
