Job title:          Teacher/Unqualified Teacher (Assessment Centre)

Location:         Smallbrook School, Shrewsbury

Salary:             £28,000 - £32,000 per annum

Hours:             37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 16:00

Contract:         Permanent, Full time 52 weeks

Due to growth in service, we are recruiting for a Teacher/Unqualified Teacher to join our amazing team.

This job is based at our education facility at an Assessment Centre, which is a residential care home offering 12 week placements approximately 14 miles from Smallbrook. There you will complete an educational assessment of students working alongside our current teaching staff. You will maintain strong links with the main school, but be based at our other site the majority of the time.

Job Purpose

  • To secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Head Teacher;
  • Improve the quality of pupils’ learning at Calcott;
  • Have joint responsibility for teaching at Calcott and develop plans which identify clear targets and success criteria for its development and / or maintenance;
  • Teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculum. Work may sometimes be undertaken outside the main teaching area - this may include off site locations including college settings;
  • In consultation with the Head Teacher undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum;
  • To share the school’s responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development and well-being of all students.

Qualifications

  • PGCE, QTLS or willingness to work towards.

Smallbrook School is currently increasing capacity from 50 students to 80 and having a large investment in our school site developing KS2 and sixth form provision. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs including a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.
